How to pack the perfect suitcase for air travel?

27 July 2024

Traveling light and efficiently is key to fully enjoying any adventure and saving on your trips. Here are some practical tips to pack your suitcase smartly and optimize space:

1. Check the baggage allowance before leaving home. Make sure you know your airline’s weight and size restrictions for luggage. This will help you avoid additional charges for excess baggage.

2. Before you start packing, make a list of the essential items you’ll need during your trip. This will help you avoid packing unnecessary things. Consider the weather and especially the activities you’ll be doing at your destination. This way, you’ll bring only the essentials, avoiding unnecessary clothes and items.

Remember to distribute the heavier and bulkier items at the bottom of the suitcase and place the lighter ones on top to maintain balance more easily.

3. Choose versatile clothing. Always opt for pieces that you can easily mix and match. Select neutral and basic colors that allow you to create various outfits with fewer items.

4. When packing, roll your clothes instead of folding them. This strategy not only saves space but also prevents wrinkles and makes it easier to find what you need in your suitcase. Additionally, make use of empty spaces. For example, use shoes to store socks, underwear, or other small items.

5. Pack only the essentials in your toiletry bag in terms of liquids and personal hygiene items to comply with airline security regulations. Most hotels provide amenities that you can use.

With these tips, you’ll be ready to pack efficiently and make the most of your next trip. Have a great trip!

Luggage fee

28 March 2009

Several airlines, not just low cost carriers, are charging an extra fee for every bag checked. To provide a more realistic comparison between prices offered by low cost and traditional airlines, we have added on Trabber’s latest update a control to select the number of bags you plan to travel with.

On Trabber’s flight results you will find on the right side, a drop-down list that allows selecting the number of bags. After the selection is made, all prices will be updated automatically taking into account this fee. Note that this drop-down list will only appear when Trabber software detects that on your search there is at least an airline that might apply the luggage fee.
